Free Vibration Analysis of Quintic Nonlinear Beams using Equivalent Linearization Method with a Weighted Averaging

In this paper, the equivalent linearization method with a weighted averaging proposed by Anh (2015) is applied to analyze the transverse vibration of quintic nonlinear Euler-Bernoulli beams subjected to axial loads. The proposed method does not require small parameter in the equation which is difficult to be found for nonlinear problems. The approximate solutions are harmonic oscillations, whic...

Predicting waste generation using Bayesian model averaging

A prognosis model has been developed for solid waste generation from households in Hoi An City, a famous tourist city in Viet Nam. Waste sampling, followed by a questionnaire survey, was carried out to gather data. The Bayesian model average method was used to identify factors significantly associated with waste generation. Multivariate linear regression analysis was then applied to evaluate th...

First - principles study of lattice instabilities in Ba x Sr 1 − x TiO 3

Using first-principles calculations based on a variational density functional perturbation theory, we investigate the lattice dynamics of solid solutions of barium and strontium titanates. Averaging the information available for the related pure compounds yields results equivalent to those obtained within the virtual crystal approximation, providing frequencies which are a good approximation to...

Mean-Field Equations for Spin Models with Orthogonal Interaction Matrices

We study the metastable states in Ising spin models with orthogonal interaction matrices. We focus on three realizations of this model, the random case and two non-random cases, i.e. the fully-frustrated model on an innnite dimensional hypercube and the so-called sine-model. We use the mean-eld (or tap) equations which we derive by resuming the high-temperature expansion of the Gibbs free energ...
